PackAttack is a cycling race game made by Pablo Valverde. This policy covers the game on the web (packattack.app) and the PackAttack apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Questions or requests: hello@packattack.app.
The short version
- There is no account. You pick a nickname, and the game makes a random player ID on your device.
- Your nickname and results can be seen by other players.
- We collect gameplay data to run leaderboards and online races and to improve the game.
- We never ask for your name, email, location, contacts, camera or microphone.
- No ads. We do not sell your data or use it to track you across other apps or websites.
- Email us and we will delete your data.
What we collect
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Nickname | The name you type when you start. It is filtered for offensive words. | Shown to other players in the activity feed, on daily stage leaderboards, in online rooms and on race links you share. |
| Player ID | A random code made on your device the first time you play. It is not linked to your real identity. | Ties your results together, for leaderboards, your career and deletion requests. |
| Race results and gameplay events | Which race you rode, your place and time, the mode, when you started and finished, and the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer). | Leaderboards, the activity feed, and understanding which parts of the game work. |
| Ratings and race forms | Star ratings after a race and, in career races, two scores and an optional short comment. | Improving the game. |
| Shared race links | When you choose to share a race, its replay and results are stored so the link works. | Anyone with the link can watch it. |
| Online races | Your nickname and your riding inputs during an online race. | Relayed to the other riders in the room so everyone sees the same race. |
| Notifications (web only) | If you turn on notifications in a web browser, the address your browser gives us to deliver them. | Sending the notifications you asked for. Turn them off at any time in your browser. |
Our servers also see your IP address when the game talks to them, as any server does. We use it briefly to stop abuse, such as too many requests at once, and do not store it with your player data. Our analytics provider may use it to estimate your country.
What stays on your device
Your nickname, player ID, progress, career and achievements are saved on your device. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes them from your device.
Who processes the data
We use a few services to run the game. They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Google Cloud (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run): stores results, ratings and shared races, and runs online races.
- Vercel: hosts the website and the game's servers.
- Mixpanel, with data stored in the EU: gameplay analytics, keyed to your player ID and nickname.
- Google Analytics (through Firebase): gameplay analytics.
Analytics are used only to understand and improve PackAttack. They are not linked to advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep gameplay data while the game is running and it is useful for leaderboards and improving the game. Leaderboards and the activity feed show recent races. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Deleting your data
Email hello@packattack.app with your nickname and, if you can, roughly when you played. We will delete your results, ratings, shared races and analytics data, and confirm by email, within 30 days. To remove what is stored on your device, delete the app or clear the site's data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, and to object to how we use it. Email us to exercise any of these. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
PackAttack is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has sent us data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
